As a lifelong musician and artist I’m always looking for new ways to create, different avenues of artistic self expression and new ways to not only inspire, but be inspired. Here at The Collective Coalition we prioritize art, artists and unencumbered creative expression. In addition to the arts being therapeutic, they can also help build focus, confidence and cognitive skills all while aiding to reduce stress. We plan on holding many live music events, social functions, workshops , seminars and discussions to help bolster the artistic scene here in Spokane. Are you an artist? Shoot us a message if you’d like us to feature your work here on our page. Got an idea or an issue you’d like us to address? Fill out our contact form and someone will respond just as soon as possible.
I noticed that since the year of the covid, though not completely dead, our music and art scene, the city itself, dwindled quite a bit. Were working on ideas to inject a little more “life” into the nightlife here in our (not-so) little town.
As a hip hop artist I am more than aware of the bravado and cavalier competitive nature that’s almost unavoidable. There are talented people all around us, every day. Reach out to another creative you admire. Telling another artist you appreciate their work doesn’t make you inferior or detrasct from your own successes. Jam, Collaborate. See what happens. Remind yourself that there’s joy to be found in experimenting. Iron sharpens iron, competition inspires greatness, but I’ve found we all move furthur forward faster when we come together with like minded people. There is no finite number or amount of success. So before you go in throwing shade at people around you, discrediting their skills or trash talking out of jealousy, ask yourself these questions.
Why am I angry at this person for succeeding? What are they doing that I am not? What could we possibly learn from one another? How does someone else’s gains take away from yours?
Keep in mind…a rising tide lifts all ships.
Great minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events, small minds discuss people.
Never argue with a fool. Onlookers can’t tell who is who.
